Hunger in Africa

“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity; it is an act of justice.” – Nelson Mandela

Stats:
·         About 38 million people in Africa are currently suffering from hunger.
·         Every 3.6 seconds, someone in the world dies from starvation.
·         1 in 12 people worldwide are malnourished.
·         Hunger is considered the number 1 health risk.
·         Africa is the poorest continent in the world.
·         1 in 7 people will go to bed hungry tonight.
·         The Horn of Africa is where most famine is occurring on the continent.
·         Hunger kills more than AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined.
·         Africans who suffer from poverty usually depend on their subsistent farms, but they aren't self-sufficient due to the lack of fertile soil.
